It sounds like people have decided to make the gathering the 11-18 of Nov. I will be there from Fri to Sun for sure, but a lot of people will be there the whole week. I just thought a formal announcement of the dates would be appropriate. Sounds like there will be quite a few people coming. So voice up and join the festivities. It'll be fun! I will be coming up from J-Tree on the evening of the 11th. Probably staying to climb on the 14th and then heading north to Boise.

Is anyone available to reserve the campsites so we won't be shut down?? Especially 13 mile campground seems to be full on the weekends. Any ideas would be helpful so that we all know prior to driving there sometime between the 12th-18th of November.

I believe there is a two car limit per site. There is also a group site, I think, but someone would have to reserve it. Until it is known how many people will actually be going, reserving a group site may mean whoever reserves it will be wasting his/her money if few people show.

How about setting 1 or 2 days for meeting/climbing at the Gallery? It could be a major scene with topropes on 15 on so routes! Maybe 1 weekday plus Sunday. Weekends can be crowded. Also, maybe someone can make a list of climbs to do and we can post to find partners for them, particularly long routes.

I will be there with two buddies (maybe 4) on the weekend of the 17th and 18th. Kind of a short time, but that's all we can get off work. We would take care of our own sleeping arrangements (my boss who I am going with has a timeshare). TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

Sounds fun. I'm game, although I'll need to check my exam schedule, but it's my birthday on the 14th, so I'd love to get out of Tempe for the occassion.

Red Rock is 16 miles west of downtown Vegas. Take Charleston west until you see the Park on your right. [ This Message was edited by: richardaiken on 2002-11-09 19:12 ]

I'm in for the 11 (or maybe 12) to the 19. Are there enough people to reserve a group site at 13 Mile Campground? Looks like right now people would prefer to look after themselves.

I'm in a hotel for Fri and Sat nite. If people are camping they should coordinate a camp site.

Actually, the loop road is 13 miles long. At this point, it's only about 3 miles from the west end of Las Vegas. *sigh*, so much for nature. Anyway, I will probably pop in over the weekend (16th & 17th). Has anyone decided on where exactly people are meeting up? I'm all new to gatherings and stuff. Let me know...

Yes of course, you'll have to take it on dirt roads. But, you can get one of those large plastic covers that fit over the entire car and drive with it on. Or maybe Mom might be up for a trip to Vegas. She can drop you off at the crag.Pick you up later and maybe she'll cook you dinner, too. LOL

Hmm... I'll be there from Nov 7-11. You know, Veterans Day weekend - got vacation, need to climb. You guys might consider hotelling. I found a cheap deal online for $20 a night at a decent place in Vegas. I don't know what the campground costs, but even with only 2 per room, $10 a night for a bed, climate controls, hot shower, coffee maker, etc, is pretty damn nice. My partner for this excursion is fairly new to climbing, and I'd like to take it easy the first day (since we're arriving really late, and will probably be fairly tired). Can anyone recommend some nice "warm-up" climbs - like single or 2-pitch stuff with easy access (ie short approach) in the 5.6/7/8 range?

By the way, is there going to be someone to reserve a bunch sites for us at the 13 mile campground? Well, I'm really forward to seeing everyone. It's always a blast to meet new people from the site. No Worries, Heath PS: Just found a number that someone local can call to reserve group sites. The number is (702) 363-1921. Looks like groups sites are only $25 per night. Hey all, It's looking like I am going to be out that way on Thu and Fri the 14th and 15th. I'm thinking the days are a mite bit too short for the really long stuff, so I'd be keen to just get on a few steep bolted routes. Maybe some shorter trad routes, as well. I'll be in the 13 mile eyesore-of-a-campground in a green F150 w/ prayer flags hanging from the rear. Climb on! ~Alan
