Well, I'll say it again--I really need to check this thread more often. Don, I'm still laughing about the horse-donkey mixture club. Dig.Bill, yes, I am real, I am mom, and I am mean. Grant, sure you can help me supervise One little note here, on the serious side, and I think I can get away with this since I am indeed a joy-kill, aka, a mother: Someone mentioned putting up a posting about this gathering at Dartmouth. That's fine, except that I don't want a bunch of premed college yah-hoos whom no one knows coming on over to our camp after climbing and trashing the place. For one thing, it is my ex-inlaw's camp (yes, the ex-husband, Jul's dad, will be there too.) For another, well, that's really it. **Edit** This is not to say that all college kids, or premed or Dartmouth students are yahoos, just all climbers. Oh yeah, and I also don't want anyone leaving the camp drunk. NH cops are merciless, NH back roads are treacherous, and I have no money, so anyone who sues will get NADDA. Also, I will not allow anyone who is obviously under 21 to drink at the camp (sorry Jul). I know I'm sounding like a big meanie, but I figured I'd put a damper on things whilst there is still time to fan the fires back up. Party on, duds. :-) [ This Message was edited by: julianas_mom on 2002-09-10 13:31 ] [ This Message was edited by: julianas_mom on 2002-09-10 13:32 ]

julianas_mom is right about notes at colleges etc. This is an RC.com gathering and not a free for all party. That is a recipe for disaster and I think we are fully capable of that ourselves It is one thing to bring the odd passenger along but these gatherings are about building the RC family bonds. Another pearl of wisdom from julianas_mom is the caution against drinking and driving. Spilling the beer around the twisty NH roads amounts to alcohol abuse Much better to carpool to the bar-b's. I designate anyone not drinking to drive, so long as that isn't me Ohhhh dear, me supervising. Goodness gracious who will supervise me??? Amber, welcome. What fun we shall have playing with the widgets. Anyone else for trad. Has anyone seen my method of turning bolts into trad placements? Hey if I could get some sherpas then the dark side could be the lighter side....how messed is that

julianas_mom, you're completely right, all college climbers are yahoos! I think, Alan, that if you want to leave a note in the gym that's fine, but it shouldn't include anything about staying at the campsites / houses. I'm pretty saure that's what Alan intended, anyway. Also, speaking from a Dartmouth college yahoo's perspective, I don't think any of the non RC.com students would really be interested in the gathering – they go to Rumney 2-3 times / week and have plenty of climbing partners. I think Alan's note would probably target other climbers like him: non-students who live in the area and use the gym because it's a good one and they don't have many partners. So don't worry, I guarantee we won't have a swarm of students descending on our gathering.

To ensure you, Mom (this is strange ... I'm older then you ...), that there will not be any 'uninvited young wipper-snappers', I'm not going to post at Dartmouth. As Jan stated, they probably will already be there anyway. If you're the mom ... I guess this makes me the "Grandpa"! I promise to be good alan

Mark: Yes. Campfire. People staying with me: You might want to bring a chair of some sort if you'd like to sit around the fire. We have chairs, but only so many... (Oh, yeah... and did I mention we're going to be a wee bit crowded?)

Wait, let me get this straight. There are a number of people proposing to eat dog food of various types.....cool. Actually what is cool is that while Jules et al are into the kibbles and bitz, I will partake of some spare steaks and lobster. Now that is my idea of a "treat". DonD: do you want one of those milkbones or are you going to pass the melted butter?
