Southerners are characteristically lazy and drunk. I don't know if we could all find the gumption to actually meet in one place at one time. If someone else will do the grunt work, I'll make an attempt to show up. Hahaha. Travis

We had a gathering last year the weekend of Thanksgiving at Lost Wall & Rocktown and had a great time. I met several climbers there that I still climb with. That same weekend might be something to shoot for.

Allright, I'm feeling motivated so lets get serious about this. We've got to pull in a mixed crowd...boulderers, sport weenies, and crotchety trad types. I'm thinking Chattanooga is probably the best medium. That way even if we all meet up at one crag for a Saturday, people who come in from out of town can try something different on Sunday if they like. Trad, sport, and bouldering...The natural progression is T-wall, Chosster's, and Little Rock City. I personally would prefer a T-wall Gathering, but I know that it was done last year. The nice thing about T-wall is that there is a place to camp right beside the road, and there is plenty of parking. Sunset park would be great for climbing, but the parking/camping situation would be no good. I'm not a big fan of Chosster's, but if y'all would like to do it sport style, I'll come. There is camping in the park (as I recall) and we can always run south to a trad area if we get tired of clipping bolts. LRC is open again for bouldering, and I'm looking forward to making it back down that way. I think it would be awesome to have a gathering there. There is a Comp there on November the 1st, and I imagine the field will be closed for a couple of weeks prior to that. If you guys really wanted to climb sport, we should do it up at the Obed/Clear creek. There is a nice boulderfield there as well, and I've got the low down on camping. If we generate some interest for it, I'll check with a friend and make sure we're good camping at his place. The camp is AWESOME for the climbing and the scene is incredible. My vote is for the Obed/Clear Creek because to the best of my knowledge there has never been a RC.com gathering there, and It is my favorite crag in the south. I will play full time tour guide if you guys decide to come up, and like I said, I can work out camping for it. South Clear Creek stays Warm all winter long, and has moderate and hard sport lines. North clear is in the sun in the afternoon and actually has a couple of really nice gear lines (most notably Alpine Dihedral 5.8+) alongside the sport. Tierrany stays dry in the rain, as does the Stephen King library (light rain) and several routes at Lilly Bluff. Okay, I"ll say more as it comes up, but as of now, I'd love to have a gathering at The Obed. Lets say mid November, but before Thanksgiving. We'll be good for a Friday night, and climbing Saturday and Sunday. Hit me with some Ideas...What do you think? Travis

Chatt. might be a good location for this year. It would sure as hell be convenient for me :D At T-Wall last year, several people went to Foster Falls one day while others stayed at T-Wall. There are climbing possibilities right here in town to keep everybody happy.

My vote would be for the Chatt area also. That way even if I can only make it for one day it is still in the realm of possibility.

Although the spaces at my house were claimed months ago, if we could get some more Chatt. residents involved, perhaps most would have a place to stay and not have to camp at T-Wall.

I'd love to come out and give this gathering thing a go. I really dig t-wall, but I've never been to Foster's or Obed. I'm hip for whatever, though.

Okay, Chatta-vegas it is. I'm kind of in a bouldering mode. Anyone interested in spending a day at Little Rock City durring the trip weekend? OR tradpuppy could introduce me to his extrasecretsuperonthedownlow boulderfield in the general vicinity of T-wall. The T-wall campsite probably the best bet for camping unless any of you local boys know a better place? We've got to check the managed hunt dates for the WMA too before we get too excited. I'll run and do a quick search... Travis

Y'all have fun down there . Spent many a night after climbing in the 'noog drinking brew, shooting pool and swapping stories at the CBC. I'm not sure if climbers still visit there, but worth checking out if y'all make a trip. Aye... those were the days....... Can't get a good plate of grits and fried okra anywhere in the state of Colorado.

In reply to: Can't get a good plate of grits and fried okra anywhere in the state of Colorado. Good fried okra is a virtual symphony of flavor. I love that stuff. At a place called "Lambert's" in Sikeston Missouri, they come around while you are eating with a big ass bucket of the stuff. They also throw you rolls! I love that place. Lets have a gathering there... Travis

Hey guys, is the climbing/camping in the area kid friendly? My kids can scramble as long as there is a place to chill at the bottom on the crags. If so I'm in for sure. 14th or 21st? Perfect weather for jocks on the rocks :) Steve

t-wall sounds great for a gathering, lost wall is better for a big group to camp though. Either place would be great.
