Any one got info on the potential damage caused by Anti-climb paint/grease they use on buildings? I kinda got some on the sling... still held a 15 footer, fuck knows how that gutter held, though. -MagnuS

You know how sometimes you just gotta climbing something? The back wall of my dorm was begging for it, with easy moves a couple of dynos past anti-climb painted patches of jugs, and gear on said jugs (gutters and things, not the flimsy USA ones, but oldskool victorian edinburgh ones) it looked do-able. The french man got within 10/15 feet of the top when he triple wrapped a giant sling arount a gutter, clipped it wrong somehow (he was a little drunk/high) pulled on the biner with two hands and... airtime. there's two routes, an expected HVS that hasn't been finished, and a VS that frenchy whipped off of. I finished off the route, topped out, then the RA (not ment to be home yet!) stuck her head out the window and... fun over. good crack, though. -MagnuS

Nice, very nice. You know that may be the first time I have heard of anyone falling on a "protected" assent of a building. Usually the climbing is so easy protecting it is irrelevant or the climbing is beastly and there is no pro to be found. Much respect to your friend for bombing on an slung gutter pipe, I would have been laughing about that shit for weeks.

We actually got the fall on video.. my first response is to piss myself laughing, then ask if he's okay, then laugh some more. It's great. As soon as the RA's bugger off at the next break, we're going for the ascents of two much harder routes, one looks mabe E1 and the other is just a V5 boulder problem with delicate slabby roof slates to finish. should be fun. -MagnuS

I'd hold back the spray unless you are trying to draw attention to yourself. Don't be surprised when you get busted! What the hell is anti-climb paint?

we did get busted, it was hilarious. Not sure exactly what anti-climb paint is, some kind of axel-grease type thing, really thick, slimey, slippery and hard as hell to wash off your hands/sling/rope/cloths/everything. -MagnuS

I don't know about Europe, but around here they use old grease. I would stop using the sling since petroleum products have a nasty effect on nylon over time.
