The most recent issue of Rock and Ice contains a full page add with a recall warning on Leeper Hangers and includes a picture of a broken hanger, but I'm not sure I'd be able to ID a Leeper from the photo. What are the unique identifiers for Ed's hangers?

Check this page out. There is a good shot of a Leeper hanger, as well as some other sketchy bolts and hangers. Leepers are pretty angular, and the flat part that the bolt goes through is triangular...

Thanks, I checked out the webpage. I'm pretty sure I saw some of these today used for belay station anchors...

The rusty color is one thing to look for, as are the angular outside edge that someone mentioned.

There are other hangers of that vintage that have angles like that, but they're probably no good either. The ones I'm talking about are larger, with a larger clip-in hole than Leeper's. I think CMI made them. Greg, do you know who made them?

Another thing about Leepers is that the bend is "right-handed" - as opposed to the left handed bend in every modern hanger. Compare the SMC to the Leeper in this photo.

Older SMC hangers (as in this photo) are no good either, but they're harder to tell from the newer better ones. The bad ones are of thinner stock and tend to be a bit rusty. I believe the newer ones are stainless steel.

nthisthebesta, you rapped of two Leepers, or one Leeper and another piece, right?!?
