If anyone is interested in this playground it will be totally free of snow in another week pending weather.
I was there boldering today and the snow will be gone soon.
4-8" in most places yet that's a great incentive to stay on the rock. The rock was warm and in most locations dry.
If you've been there before the usual places were wet but not excessively.
FP Jones area was totally dry and clear of snow as was the Runny Nose area (Fools Overture/Spiderman)
Hope to see a few of you there soon.

I got there early last Saturday..I only got one climb in before 30+ people showed up. Within an hour of being there, the place was a mess of topropes like usual..the season is here. Good thing the other cliffs aren't TR friendly.

Grinspoon, you probably saw me there with two of my children.
We set up on Klimbski for an early season break-in.
I was in BLUE JEANS!! LMBO

Moss Island just had all it's honeysuckle cleaned out so that all those routes that were once choked out at the bottom are now free and clear. This now has opened up about 300 more feet of boulder problems. Guidebook climbs 12-23 are now easily accessable. Areas that had honeysuckle in front of them such as Dogville and Snowwhite are clear as well.
There is now no snow at the Island and 98% of all the routes are dry.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a good one. Hope to see some of you there. I'll just be boldering wearing an old pr of Asolo shoes. Stop and throw me a friendly hello or throw me a few choice words if that's your thing.Crazy

LMAO!!! Yep that was me/us!!!

I'll be there in a bit and i may be there with my non-family climbing partner.
Knowing a face and person makes things a bit more friendly. That was funny last weekend BTW!

I must have seen both of you that busy Saturday a week ago. The Island was packed with people considering how early in the season it was.

I spent this last Saturday at the Dihedrals and Tier of Fear, but the cracks there are still a bit wet.

I'm sure you did see both of us. Kinda cool.

If anyone has been there in the past as I mentioned above the honeysuckle has been cut and now, as of today, the pile has been removed. Thank the cutting to the local climbers who were given permission to perform the work but the removal of the absolutely huge pile the city of Little Falls should take the credit for. The city work crew that removed the brush worked for quite sometime in the rain today to get it out of there.

Do you guys bother getting the permit? I used to, but no one seems to care, so I stopped.
Ever hear of problems that way?

Last time I was there I just climbed on 10 ropes (with permission of course) that other people had hanging, and never even got my rope out. It was great!

Yep. The rules are the rules. I'd hate to have someone get a boner for climbers and shut the place down with the use of pen and paper.
I know others that don't think this way. I still climb with them all.

I was just told today that the police WILL be there this year. If they are, I hope they are just there taking permit money and not handing out other bad forms of paper.
I don't think the city cares if the island "draws" people to the area. They don't, IMHO, care if climbers come or not.

Grrrrreat.
Yeah, the local cops definitely don't care if visiting climbers are spending money in their town. They pulled my buddy and I over once (2 separate cars) for "reckless" driving. They were on the biggest power trip I've ever seen.

"Do you think it's acceptable to come to my town and act like a monkey?"

"Well, actually..I have been climbing all day..so..yeah..I would have to say yes"

I swear that was actually part of the conversation. I guess its time for me to get a permit.

Hey, was that you there yesterday? If you saw a guy there doing a quick little rapel and taking some new topos ...that was me.
Sorry you had a problem with the police there. It's a town where the police watch drivers very carefully. It usually goes like this. If they pull you over, you get at least one ticket. Hope you guys didn't.

Fortunately, we didn't get any tickets..they just bitched for about 10mins. I was in Little Falls on Saturday, but spent the entire day at the Dihedrals getting reminded how out of shape I am.
