Hello I'm currently in Perth but i'm going to Melbourne and Sydney as a holiday and, since I'm quite happy climbing with adequate experience (I like to think anyway) I've decided to attempt the death swing since its something I've been wanting to do for quite a while and missing out on the chances previously. I've seen videos of it and the climbing of it to reach the peak is not a problem, however one thing i'm not to sure about is the rope setup for it, as in what knots, where to place clips, etc. I have a fair Idea of it from some friends which I think should work quite nicely however I'm still not sure how to set it up, so I'd appreciate it if anyone here who's done that same swing could give me any advice on how they've done it? I'll still attempt it with my setup, but I'd much rather some outside influence to make so I have it right. Thanks for all the Help!

If you want to do this, just do this Make sure you account for the rope stretch

If you've never set up a rope swing before I probably wouldn't do it with information off of the internet.

Don't worry it's not just on rc.cm that he is asking elsewhere for suicide advice: http://www.chockstone.org/...mp;Replies=3#NewPost

One should add that even if you have set it up before, you probably still arnt qualified. Rope swings involve mechanics well beyond the understanding of the average climber. I can count the number of people I would trust to set one up on one hand, and that includes about 30 climbers who climb 5.13 or harder.

Understanding the dynamics and figuring out how to set a solid anchor and connecting it safely are different things.

I doubt your average slack line user knows the force multiplication inherent to the use of a slackline. Does that mean that they don't know how to, nor are unable to stretch a slackline between two trees, rocks, spans, cars, etc.?

Do I need to be super strong to know how to tie a knot?

Actually, all you weakmos would not know this, but when you send your first 5.13, the spirit of Dan Osman shoots a high voltage "information charge" down from the sky directly into your cereral cortex, thus instilling advanced ropework knowledge into your psyche. It's pretty cool, really, and is the easiest way to learn complex rigging.

The "information charge" enters at the perineum and then travels up the chakras, stimulating each as is passes, resulting in advanced ropework enlightenment. Sharma clearly outlines this in his book.

What are you talking about. Sharma can't read, nevermind write. The last time he tried to produce a crayon illustrated book for mass consumption, he fell asleep while stoned and his roach burned a hole in the manuscript. Which I have. And will sell to the highest bidder.

Here is a video of the 'Death Swing" Looks like it's fairly easy to setup. That's probably the biggest problem, it looks easy, every noob can do it. http://www.youtube.com/...ge&v=wBnzZarY7zQ

Be very careful with the information that is taken from internet. You can not give any valid. Try to share your trips with someone experienced. regards
