Depends on what you're climbing. Hard bouldering? Chill soloing in J Tree?

You can't go past the soundtrack to Rocky IV. "Hearts on Fire" is the way to top out and "No Easy Way Out" is ideal for a crux when panic and fear are defeating you. ;-)

The only music that I really like while climbing is the sound of a gentle wind in the trees, a nearby stream, the birds as they fly below me... I prefer nature-music.

Having majored in music for a while at uni, I have fairly eclectic taste in music. Sometimes I might feel like some really heavy metal and other times progressive rock. Time periods - definitely 70s is my firs choice, but there's been some great stuff since then too. There's some wonderful grunge that makes me climb better at times. I can't stand techno, Bob Marley or any reggae when climbing. That's a small part of why I hate climbing in Krabi. Techno - I'd rather hear a musician make a mistake than listen to a drum machine.

I listen to Tommy Emmanuel for smooth stuff and Santana for harder stuff. I'm not much into heavy music
