Hi, I'm wondering if anyone might be climbing in Paklenica in August and in need of a partner. I had plans to spend the month there with a friend, but things have fallen through. Now I have a plane ticket and no one to climb with. I'm a somewhat beginning climber, just started leading this year. I climb mostly sport can follow up to 11b or so right now. I would really like to learn more and improve though. Does anyone know how easy it is for a solo girl who's not a super strong climber to find someone who would want to climb there? Does anyone know someone who I can get in touch with once there? Thanks! Heidi

It'll be hot in Paklenica, so we usually climb from 8 to noon, then 4 to 8. Our group has climbed with people walking up to us multiple times over the years. You're plenty strong to find people especially if you stay at a campground and make friends with other climbers there. We usually stay at the small one on the left as you start up Pakleniczka Ulica. I can find out the name if needed.

Thanks so much! As far as the camping goes, it seems like there are usually showers and sometimes laundry. What about the cooking situation? Do you just eat out all the time, or can you buy a camp stove there?

The mom and pop climbers' campsite called Camping Marko that we always stay at (http://ac-marko.com/...eng&page=ponudba) has showers, a kitchen with a full size gas stove and three really old refrigerators. Not sure about laundry, but worst case you walk over to the other places or do it old school in the sink. There's a fantastic restaurant at the corner called Dinko with great seafood and reasonable prices, but we only eat there once a week, the rest we cook. There's also a climbing shop in town in case you need a book or gear. A bakery is also walking distance, about 200 yards, on the north side of the highway towards Zadar.

Perfect, thanks again! I'll try that campsite first. I've heard good things about the restaurant too. Can't wait to check it out!

Hi Soren, I'm planning on being there from the end of July to the end of August. I was also considering Kalymnos, but would need partners for that area also. I'd be happy to climb with you if you're around. Do you have specific plans of where you'd like to go? Heidi

Ok I won't be able to leave for my trip until mid Aug. Thereafter it will either be Kalymnos or the Dolomites depending on where I find a partner. Maybe I will see you in Croatia Cheers Soren

Hi Soren, Sounds good. As of now it looks like I'll be in Paklenica during that time and won't be going to Kalymnos. Feel free to get in touch when you get to Croatia if you need a partner. Heidi

Hi Heidi, I am currenlty in Zadar and looking for climbing partners but I only have a harness and shoes with me... I will be here for 2 more days and then working my way down the coast for a mix of sightseeing, scuba and rock climbing. Let me know by email if you are still around. dougherrin@hotmail.com. Cheers
