I was thinking of getting an extra harness in case i want to take a female out w/ me. Will most girls fit into a medium(take out all the slack) or would i need to get a small? I dont climb w/ any girls and the one that i took out there was normal size but not tiny like a few of the girls ive dated. Stupid question but i have dated a few girls that have been 100-110 lbs and they have very small waists.

I have about 4 bd bod harness from x girl friends that wanted to get into climbing. It was always fun at first but she looked like a little puppy sitting in the window every time I wanted to go out with the boys. I guess while I was out climbing some other guy was shopping for a puppy. Thank god she left the harness so I could throw it in the pile with the rest of them. What a great reminder to my unsuccessful love life.

I know I take a medium most of the time, I think. I'm certainly taller than average (5'8") but not sure how much bigger than average I am. I take a size 8 or 10 dress size (the size 10 mostly because my lats and back get a little bigger after climbing for a while). I know what size pant I wear, but not my waist.

I would try to get one of those super adjustable harnesses they use at gyms. The one size fits all sort of thing. If they really get into it then they'll buy their own, much nicer, harness.

This is the first time I'm going to sugest to move something into the ladies room.

For some reason this image came to mind when reading your post:

If I were you I would get a fully adjustable webbing harness. I bought one for my kids to use but it resizes to fit adults as well. If they aren't serious climbers the sacrifices in comfort probably won't be noticed.

+1 on a one size fits all type harness... I have a womens size 4 harness and I have to pull it almost all the slack out to have it fit (I'm 5'8" wear generally a size 4). A medium wouldn't fit me. Another bonus is that it could be used for friends (guys and girls) in a pinch. As said above, if they really like climbing they will go buy their own.

I bought the Black Diamond Vario Speed harness: http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/gear/vario.php

I have been very happy with it (having used it for both kids and adults). Just keep in mind it is a top rope harness, with no built-in gear loops.

Petzl also makes very adjustable harnesses that only come in two sizes. You might try the smaller one of those, and then if she likes it she won't need to buy her own and can just take yours. I know I wouldn't want to spend too much time sitting in a webbing only harness, you probably want to make it as comfy as possible for her.

If she is as small as you say she is, then I don't think the petzle will fit snug,at least it did not on my girl. I have a calidris size 1, and normally I cinch it down to where its almost all the way cinched. If I were you I would just buy a girl specific harness. They don't cost too much anyways, especially when you think about how much time she may spend in it.
