I hate when people go climbing or mountaineering and dont bring the right gear with them or forget to bring something really important with them when everyone else has brought everything with them and this one person has spoilt it or has put the group in difficulties because of this one this or even worse has forgot alot of things in one bag.

Example the harness or rope or the food or water or even the tent.

I was wondering has anyone ever been in this situation or has done one of these things.

And what did you do or what happened at the time.

Well I would have to agree that would be a real drag. But, what can you do? Checking to make sure you have everything is usually a good thing to do before you leave, but s*$t happens. I guess all you can do at that point is try to make the best of it. I can't remember ever leaving a rope or a tent behind, but I have gotten places before only to find I forgot stuff. I kinda felt like this
Make the best of it!!!

How could you forget the rope!
Maybe it's just the group that I always go with, we have a couple of guys who make sure we have absolutely everything, even the stick clip!! If we forget, it's just usually in the car and the person who forgot it goes back down to get it.

Kick is arse BG!!! Also, you probably don't need to write your message as though you are the only one this has happened to. Common sense will alert you to the fact that this kind of thing is always happening to someone!

I am one of those forgetful annoying people you are referring too yet not only when we are hooking up I make it a habit to check and double check before I or whoever all is going that we all have everything, mainly because normally its my gas money. Once everyone forgot to bring a watch, haha but no one complained about it

Oh man last weekend I was climbing with my nephew. Before we left he assured me that he had warm clothing for the trip. When we got to the area it was cold and there was snow on the ground. He gets out of truck wearing a t-shirt. My other partner asked him if he had any warm clothes. He said he left them back at the hotel where we stayed the night. What an IDIOT! He lucked out I had some extra stuff for him. As it turned out it snowed on us and he was thanking me later. My advice check your partners and yourself before you go. Not everyone thinks the same.

I've never forgotten anything because I always take everything that I have just in case but I have been to the rock where I lent out some webbing and stuff before. Then I spend my time worrying if I'm going to get it back.
