going to Summersville over the weekend to do some diving but would like to get on some easy routes while there. Can anyone tell me where I can find routes in the 4 to 8 range.

There are a handful of sport routes on Orange-Oswald that should meet your specifications. If you're looking for easy/moderate climbing, my suggestion would be to give Summerville a miss and head over to Bubba City, you'll find a ton of easier routes there. Incidentally I highly suggest Shady Lady (5.7) at Sandstonia.

Good breakfast suggestion, knievel. While there are only 5 or 6 climbs at Summersville that are 5.8 or below, you could easily mix a day of climbing and diving. If you're up for slightly harder routes, in greatly expands the list. Bubba City is another good suggestion, and has seen a lot of development in the last several years. The Bubba City guide released last year is probably your best source, as the Thompson and Carter guides are from the late 90s. Are you toproping, or do you have a leader in your party? IIRC, top access at Summersville and Bubba city isn't as convenient as it is at Junkyard or the Bridge Area.

1. Do a search. 2. Cliff jumping at Summersville Lake is illegal. 3. Do a search. 4. I love you.

Appreciate the link to the guide book. I'll have to run it past my partners and see about utilizing the info this fall :) tallek, enjoy the diving - that is something I don't think I could do because I get severe ear pain around the 6-8 foot depth just swimming in a pool. I've always wished I could try it though :) God Bless, mik

If going to Bubba City, would highly recommend picking up the Eric Horst guide book.

http://www.westvirginiacabins.com/html/scuba.html wrote: Skin Diver Magazine calls Summersville Lake “The little Bahamas of the East” because of its excellent visibility. Visibility is twenty to forty-five feet and sometimes as much as eighty feet! The depth of the lake is zero to three-hundred-twenty-seven feet. Temperature is seventy-five to eighty-five degrees in season. The season runs from mid-May through mid September. Summersville Lake is the cleanest, clearest, freshwater lake east of the Mississippi. What is there to see? Rock cliffs, boulders, and swim throughs that run to one-hundred feet below the surface. Let me know how it is when you get back. I'd like to hear some opinions about it. I'm sure there are some others who would be interested to know. (and let us know if you find any bodies of Deep Water Soloists at the bottom, that the Corps of Engineers is trying to save us from).
