Ok ,so here I am in Russia and my initial travel plans have gone to shit! And I'm thinking I'm not really a high altitude type of guy anyway. So here's my question; If you could fly 1000 miles in any direction and your thing was ice and mixed-where would you go? $ let's be somewhat realistic!

Uhh... 1000 miles from where? If you're talking 1000 miles from somewhere in Russia, that only gets you like 1/5 of the way across the country longitudinally.

Hmmm, are the Alps still within a 1000 mile range from Moscow? The Alps is by far the best mountain range in the whole of Europe for Alpine climbing if you want a bit of everything, from mixed, ice, rock to sport and trad. Otherwise the Caucasus might suffice in your case, as you won't be needing a visa and getting the possibly necesarry other paper work is much less of a hassle for you. The mountains around the Dakh-tau seem very impressive to say the least, you most certainly will find something that suits your needs over there. Good luck!
