Numb Fingertip After Falling

I was working a bouldering problem in the gym yesterday and came up to a somewhat sharp, oddly shaped pinch. I lost the hold and my finger slipped over a corner on the hold. There is an area the size of a nickel on the right side of my left middle finger that is completely numb. There's no pain, it just feels numb.
Has this every happened to you? Did you just ignore it and keep climbing? Any idea what happened?

I was climbing once and hit a real sharp point on a crimper. I didn't realize it right away, but the next route my finger didn't feel right. A few moves later I realized one of my fingers was numb from the tip to ~1cm back. I got a little weirded out, but kept climbing. 10 days later my feeling was back.
Likely minor nerve damage. I've done something similar with a fist jam, where I pinched a nerve and left my thumb numb. It recovered over time, generally in the range of lots of days to a few weeks.
Of course, if it persists longer than a couple weeks, you should probably see a medical specialist, rather than looking for internet diagnosis.

That sounds similar to what happens to a girl at my crossfit gym. It turned out to be a pinched nerve in her shoulder/neck. But it caused numbness in her thumb and middle finger.

Go to the doctor, they will give you stretches.
I would never recommend stretching nerve damage, especially fresh nerve damage. Don't pull the torn segments farther apart.
Nerve stretches (more accurately "neuromobilizations", refer to the work of David Butler if you want the research) work very well on healed or healing injuries, but are generally not indicated on fresh injuries.

It didn't happen to me so this was doctor told a friend who told me. So how about just go to the doctor/physio.
