The Ben Lomond Climbing Center and Canyon Sports are sponsoring a series of events that can qualify you to win a Beal flyer 60 m rope, Franklin Spacepack, DMM #2 cam, BD Ion headlamp, Petzl Tee's, a variety of chalkbags, BD ovalwires and more. :shock: :lol:
The 10 week event is called a Rock Climbing Rodeo and it consists of about twelve things that you can do to earn points towards the prizes. Events include stretching, technique, and self-rescue seminars, two outdoor service projects for Ogden area climbing, and "challenges" inside the gym which can be worked and reworked for better scores. Scoring for most events is based on participation and the challanges are based largely on self improvement. Registration is $7 and everyone will receive a prize of app. $7 (with gym discounts and other prizes you will easily make your money back). SLC and Logan climbers are encouraged to join. Ogden has seen a ton of development (50+ routes on the Schoolroom alone from 5-6 to 5-13) in the last two years and this would be a great chance to check out Utahs red-headed step child of a climbing town. Also check out deals at Ben Lomond Climbing Center on used equipment. Currently we have rental shoes of all sizes available to buy for $15-25. We also have 10-15 cams (tcu's, camalots, friends), a pair of like new Koflach boots for $125, set of nuts, 4 pair near new rock shoes (various sz scarpa, sportiva), and the new Schoolroom guide book $10.
