The Front Range is hit or miss during winter. It could be 50 degrees and sunny or below zero. Shelf has a lot of South facing rock, so there is a decent chance it will be climbable, but it's no guarantee.

Well in May the question is whether or not it'll be too hot in the sun. The answer is - probably. But first thing in the morning it should be fine. The rest of the day, unless it's cloudy or unseasonably cold, it'll be baking in the sun in May. That said, there are plenty of shady walls, walls that get shade in the afternoon, and areas where you can move around to chase sun/shade. However this is all a bit tricky, and if you want to do this, you might want to really study the guide book in advance, or go with some locals. GO
