So a week before our wedding, my fiance' decided to postpone the wedding due to me: 1) Being immature 2) Not trying enough to spend time 3) Not communicating enough So last weekend, I decided to go to the Needles instead of Colorado (Estes Park) where we were going to get married. The weather was beautiful. On Saturday, I lead Igor Unchained with my friend Bill and his girlfriend who does not climb much following. Then Bill and I did Innersanctum in 2 pitches with a bit of simulclimbing on the 2nd pitch (okay, so it was more like 50 feet of simul) in an attempt to get done before dark. We barely rapped when it got dark. His g/f started back before us, got lost, I got back to camp 5 min before Bill, found out to our horror she wasn't there, and we played "Search and Rescue" until 12:30am when we found her in a ravine, lost, scared, cold, but fortunately unhurt. On Sunday, I had to try Thin Ice (10b). I actually tricked myself into onsighting both pitches because I thought the crux was on P2 when it was actually on P1 and I thought P1 was all 5.9. Great climb though. Monday, I climbed with Pete Min, a guy I had met in Josh last winter. Sunday night we were talking about routes to climb and we both mentioned S Face of Warlock (7p 5.9). So we headed to do it, all went well until the first real moves of the route. It was a really hot sweaty pinch-layback on this vertical rib of rock right off the ground that I thought I was going to fall on. Fortunately didn't fall, but it was way hard. I combined about 5 pitches into 2+simul, then it was Pete's turn at the crux of the route. You have to step out over nothing right off the belay with a blue tcu at your side and start 5.9 face climbing. Well Pete wasn't liking that too much so I got the lead on that pitch too. Finished with some awkward "easy grooves to top" and 3 raps. Good route, but the topo leaves something to be desired. Tuesday was Airy Interlude. Great route and solid 10a. So I had fun, met some cool Swedes, and Irish dudes, and am psyched for the Nose in the 2nd full week of October with Wallhammer. Ohh yeah, and am psyched to be single again. TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

In reply to: So a week before our wedding, my fiance' decided to postpone the wedding due to me: 1) Being immature 2) Not trying enough to spend time 3) Not communicating enough Aw baby, don't worry. From that list it sounds like you're just a fairly normal climbing guy.  I'm shocked you'd even settle down and get married in the first place. You're too much of a free spirit. But sorry to hear, if it's something that you did want.

In reply to: In reply to: Ohh yeah, and am psyched to be single again. better get used to it. I said I was single, I didn't say I wasn't getting any. Not to brag, but as a personal trainer, it is much easier to seem attractive than your average gym rat. I have quite a few girls lined up that are glad to hear the news and that are ready to use me for their own gratification. And I am glad to oblige. TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

In reply to: Hey Bro, anytime you need a winger. You didn't really want to get married did ya??? josh Hey, you can take the odd numbers, and I'll take the even numbers. The next one is an even number though. Good ole' number eight...teen. And there is no "pumping up" of the head. Although I got my fair share in college, this is more and better quality than I had ever expected. So I am just suprised as you might be. But remember that these girls see me all cleaned up and trying to present a good image. I don't think I would be as desireable if it were after a few weeks in the Valley straight off a wall, fingers bloody, hands scabbed over, many days of funk from being too tired to shower at the end of the day, but not so tired to take a rest day. TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

Now that you don't have an engagement ring in your way, why not come down to AZ and sink your digits into some of those tasty Paradise Forks cracks? Flagstaff microbrew (or Guinness if you must) and gut-busting burritos on me. You know you want to... it can be, like, the Cali Dirtbag post-woman, post-house-arrest tour 8)

Somewoman, somewhere, quivers under the pages of her Cosmo or Redbook. Boys, you're gonna put an eye out with those things!

There's a time and place for everything. I certainly don't think every girl is "on the menu", and hope you realise that I am far from wanting anything female and willing. josh
