Last weekend found 6 of the Pullharder crew and friends attempting bigwall free routes. Here's the tale of 4 of us playing around in Red Rocks. Specifically, two on the Original Route of Rainbow Wall, and two of us on the Rainbow Country variation. It was a weekend of pushing personal limits, which is what Pullharder is all about! (Konstantin cranks out another 5.11+ onsight!) http://pullharder.org/...-success-or-failure/ Josh

Nice write-up, Josh, Rainbow Wall is fricking awesome. I've got one question: is there like a four foot splitter roof crack on Rainbow Country? I remember seeing one off to the left as I rapped the upper portion of the Original Route. It looked really cool. Either way, I'm psyched to get down to SoCal next month!

Well, there was a roof with a crack about level with the Over the Rainbow Ledge. After you pull that roof you belay at bolts a little higher and then traverse straight right to join up with the bottom of the red dihedral upper pitches of the Original Route. There were only about two hand jams on it though, with bizarre face climbing below and a mildly difficult lip to pull above on more face holds. There is almost no jamming on that pitch at all, actually. That said, bring a #2 camalot if you ever give it a try. If you didn't have one in, that roof would be wickedly dangerous if you fell. I lowered back to the belay to get one. That pitch did not go well first attempt. And I never got the crux moves, even on TR. Josh

Really enjoyed the write up and the pics. Definitely will inspire me to push my limits a bit more than I do. Looked like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing. Gotta get back out to Red Rock. What a great place!
