How long will you be there? I want to climb in Colombia. I'll be there for 6 weeks, starting in March.

I read here a while ago that there was a guide book out there.

Take a lot of sunscreen. It's been hot and sunny for the last few months and it seems is going to stay like that with El Niño still around. The sun there will burn you really fast, because of the high altitude.

You can climb near the crag if you want to. I've never done it, but I hear that it's possible. I've always have done day trips from Bogota, only an hour away.

I've not climbed enough there to give you any real advice regarding the climb.

Come to Colombia...

We have sweet beaches!

And better mountains!

Climbing wise If you visit Colombia there are 4 places you should consider :

1. Suesca (where it all started in Colombia)... About 400 routes... sport, trad, crack, face, 1 pitch to 4 pitches... beautiful sand stone. 50 minutes away from Bogotá. There is another mainly sport crags nearby Valle de los Halcones (20-30 minutes away).

2. Mesa de los Santos (aka. La Mojarra). Surreal location above a beautiful valley. 150 mainly sport routes, red sandstone... Near Bucaramanga.

3. Machetá - Near Bogotá smaller sport crag.

4. El Cocuy. Alpine climbing. Peaks rising above 16500 feet, allowing for high altitude big walls and mountaineering.
