From subsequent stories, seems like the guy's life fell off the deep end and his mental health went with it (or perhaps the other way around). I do accept with a certain sadness that human beings can go off like this, and maybe one day I'll get mowed down at a restaurant or walking downtown or at a mall. Unlikely, but it happens. But climbing is my bubble—a magical space where this sort of shit doesn't happen. That's why I came back to it after so many years off. Not for my own sake, I'm glad this was stopped before anyone was hurt, killed, or traumatized. But also for my own sake, I am glad my bubble remains in tact. It's a very magical bubble. (It is quite surreal to be making an actual serious post on rc.com).
