Does anyone know what the rope bearing radius is on the Trango Superfly carabiner? I eMailed Trango several days ago, but didn't get a response...

There was a discussion about this awhile ago

I believe 4.5mm is the answer your looking for. I've e-mailed trango before and it taken awhile to get back to me on not so important questions i've had.

They are sweet biners!

I tried a forum search before posting, but sometimes it's a little clunky... or perhaps my keyword choices weren't the best... nah... it's got to be the search function. :D

Yeah, the search never works for me. Or it will and then 5 seconds later it won't. If you find any for a decent price let me know. Gearexpress seems to be out of them and I want more!

http://www.questalb.com/

The superflies were recently going for $5.95 on the above site, you might need to email to see if the sale is still going on.

They're $7.95 now. The only other place I've seen with a price that high is Mountain Gear. GearExpress and BentGate both start out at $7.50 with a discount for quantity purchases...

Sorry I didn't get on this earlier. I've had major email chaos lately. I think what you're asking is what the cross sectional with is of the rope bearing surface. The width of the SuperFly at the rope end is 8.5mm. The radius is 4.5mm. Neither of these is the length of the rope bearing surface, which can't be measured with a set of calipers. There is no CE spec for this dimension but the UIAA calls for minimum of 4.5mm radius through 120 degrees of arc. Do the trig and you come up with a cros-sectional width of 7.79mm as the minimum cross section for the rope end of a biner. The SuperFly well exceeds the minimum specified by the UIAA.
