Can't Post

jds100's description is great, but I wanted to add a few facts that he was unclear about. The rock at the Shutins is volcanic rock, not granite (hey, I can't help it, I'm a geologist!) and outcrops over a relatively large area called the St.Francois Mountains. There is granite across the river, but you are not allowed to climb there anymore. Dogs and beer, along with other alcohol beverages are allowed in the park. Dogs must be leashed at all times and there is no alcohol allowed on the parking lots. NO food or drink is allowed at the river, but if you are climbing and are using a canteen, the state park officials have no problem with it. Just keep the pop bottles and beer cans back at camp. Its a great place to climb and there is more of this kind of rock in the area that could be developed. See ya on the crags!!
