Has anyone been out there recently. I have to go to Fergus for something and wouldn't mind checking out some climbs or bouldering in the Gorge. Any recommendations?

I was there for ice a couple of times last winter and the rock routes didn't look so great. Not sure about bouldering.

I ahve a feeling it's pretty loose rock around there. No concrete evidence to back this up I'm afraid though.

Well then I guess when I go out there anyway I'll take a look and let everyone know. Thanks,

There's some good cliff diving off of the spit, and there's a quite a lot of decent rocks to climb, but there right over jagged rock. The stuff over deep water isn't soo good, kinda smooth, that's all I remember.

c_plante: Is that just the Quarry your talking about? There is more in the Gorge. (Out by that little small town with the pub and the LCBO) Anyway the Qurry doesn't allow diving, climbing and a number of other offenese we broke last time we were there.

Yes you can cliff dive, but only from the spit. I've never seen the rest of the gorge, only the quarry, so thats all I can really talk about.

Just to add. I looked at the Gorge and if you have time there seems to be plenty there to climb. As well the gorge is refrenced in the Escarpement: A climbers guide. When I get board I'll add the info from the guide to the area description.

I have done some rock routes at Elora Gorge. It is not recommended. The rock was loose and dirty. Most of the lines are TR only. You will find one or two bolted lines. These were wet when I was there. It is easy to set up TRs.
