There is a group of climbers meeting at Val di Mello in Italy June 17-19. :D

Hoooorrahhhh for granite! :P

The gathering will be mostly Italians/folks from another forum, but some of us rc.com folks will be there too.

If you decide to come and you'd like a contact name/number so you can find us, send either myself or Paolo75 a pm!

what happened with the planed infrastructure development in this valley? I recall a controversial tramway or road development was being proposed.

I thought it was about construction of a dam...

btw, here is an link I found about this matter. It is in Italian though..http://www.valdimello.it/...entraliValMasino.asp

basically it sais that the main office for territory planning and development of the region Lombardia (val di Mello belong to this region) has given favorable opinion on the constriction of two hydroelectric power plant: one in the "Foresta di Bagni Masino" (forest of B.M.) and another one on the plain close to the Disgrazia glacier.
Because of the construction of those plants two of the most valuable and wild areas of the valley are going to be damaged. The 80 % of the wild water of the valley are already used for hydroelectric purposes so, this project, is going to destroy the last wild area left...
Another problem is that the only official institution that works against the project is the administration of small town involved in this project, but the administrators can do nothing against the "big" power of the main region....

H, you didn't hear yet? Somebody smeared lard over all the holds on all the best problems. Somehow I doubt it was the farmers though... I'm not sure they'd know which problems/holds to smear. Whichever lame-ass it was, at least I can commend them for not chipping anything (as happened in Bleau).
