Who is a runner and a climber? I find that being runner helps my climbing endurance.

Well, I run quite a bit (about 15-20 miles a week) although I don't like it much.

I find that it helps me more on the approach than it does on the climbs. Not sure how your cardiovascular endurance will help your muscular endurance aside from the ability to more effectively deliver blood to those muscles.

Just my observations though.

Yea it makes it easier for your heart to pump blood, to the nessary locations. I also like to think that all of that running will keep me healthly and climbing longer.

HEY JOE!!!
I'm a runner and a climber! I was running long before climbing, and at the beginning the climbing supplemented my running...but now it's the opposite. I find the improved cardiovascular strength helps on weekend trips in colorado, and especially when doing speed ascents, and looong days on the rock. Also- long approaches are a breeze, while for many of my partners; it's hard for them to keep up. I attribute it all to 20 miles+ a week on the trails.
jer
ps joe- I'll be doing my "missouri El Cap day" this saturday- 32 pitches!

I used to be a runner (in an athletics club), but after an injury I quit and now I sometimes go climbing to keep myself in condition, but climbing is so much more fun! Right now I am looking for another sports club (besides climbing), but no running anymore (I can always run on my own instead of in a club). If anyone has any suggestions for a good and fun sport, don't hesitate to tell me!

Jer,
Wish I could be there this weekend, but I have a race in Granelle IA. I'm thinking of getting some college-climbing buds together during fall break(October 18th-21st) and climb Misssouri. You have any plans that weekend? If you don't let me know and maybe we could hook up.

I'm a triathlete so I have to run. I replaced all my strength workouts with climbing. I go climbing every other day and change from strict strength to endurance. I love it! I'll never go back to the gym.

yeah, fitness sucks! It's some pseudo-sport for losers. I don't see how you can like it.

I DO NOT RUN, can't enjoy it.

The last time I did any serious running, it was running from the cops, and I didn't get away.

I smoke, I know it's bad, but I do. So I really dislike long approaches, muchless running. Every time I go to Tahquitz I swear I'm not going there anymore, 'cause the approach is 45 min straight uphill with 45 lbs. on my back. But I always go back, the climbing is too good.

I do run and climb, but not at the same time
I don't see anything wrong with it. For me there are different ways to alter my conscience without drugs. I hope nobody will forbid them.
