Im not sure if there is already a forum topic related to this so I aplogize if this is under the wrong forum section but i was just wondering if anyone on here owns the new 5.10 Dragons, and how they like them. I also want to know how they handle on all types of routes, not just the steep rock that they are advertized for. A couple of people I know have recommended them but I am kind of marrried to the anasazi velcros. So any info would be great. : )

I don't have them, but I tried them once in a shop. Be sure you try them too, because I had to take two sizes more than normal. I really like their colour, too!

I LOVE my dragons. They totally rock on overhangs, they plug into the pockets like no other, not the best for smearing though I had the anasazi's but i think the Dragons work mucho' better. If you do get a pair, get them a 1/2 size bigger. But if you don't like your shoes super tight... get them 1-2 sizes bigger. You won't regret getting the DRAGONS!!!

I wore my brother's pair the other day for some steep bouldering on plastic and they were great. Definitely high-performance shoes. Slick desgin too. I'd grab a pair if I had the cash. Still lovin my Anasazi velcros though.

i had the dragons when they first came out. i wanted to have a high end shoes that would also work on other types of routes besides extreme they did great on the hardest routes but found lacking in cases where smearing was needed so i sold them and went back to the anasazi

I was tring on a pair of them I normally wear a size 9 climbing shoe, but I tried on a pair of 5.10 dragons size 9 and I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe. Send a PM to calebk, I was with him a week ago when he bought a pair. Him likes them, but he bought them in his normal street shoe size. [ This Message was edited by: aulwes on 2002-02-16 11:15 ]

If you find 'leadingedge' ask him. He's got them along with a house full of other shoes. If anyone knows shoes, its him. Personaly, they look cool. But i have the feelign they wear out fast due to there softness and flexibility.

Hi, ... been talking about me gekolimit. 5.10 Dragons: They are great for overhanging climbs as you may know by now. Its comfort matches La Sportiva with great heel support. If you climb seriously and always make the best out of competitions then buy then. They are expensive and yes buy then in two sizes up than your previous shoe (anything but 5.10) size. The shoe will not last very long if your a regular climber. If you want the best edgeing on your shoe for a long time then look for a different shoe (La Sportiva Katana, a great shoe). The rubber on the dragons doesn't last so long. Hope that I was any help.

Yep I agree with all of the above. Would liked to have had my shoes size equivalent, but had to go a size down because of lack of stock. They hurt like hell...but NO PAIN NO GAIN!

My last shoe purchase I was looking at either the Dragons or La Sportiva Katana's...when I tried the Dragons on I found one of the buckles that the velcro goes through really dug into the top of my feet. Any pair I tried did this, and it hurt like hell after 5 minutes of climbing. Loved the grip, feel and camber that they have, they were a nice shoe, but just not for my feet. I opted for the Katana's which fit like a glove and offer nearly as good rubber. Defenitely not as nice as the Dragons in stickiness but they edge beautifully! Depends on what you're shooting for. If it fits your foot and you do lots of overhanging stuff, then go for the Dragons for sure...if not, try on some Katana's, they're both in the same price range (read: expensive as hell). :-) Mike...

Great shoes if they fit your feet. I have a few pairs. The first thing that wears out for me is the velcro strap where it runs through the metal loop. If you don't do a lot of toe hooking, then don't worry about it though. Example- http://www.arizonabouldering.com/flagstaff/flagstaffpictures/antoinehat.htm

Hmmm, I tried the dragons on, but they didn't fit my foot right. There was a constant pocket of air in the heel. -Sheppe
