hey!

so, i'm headed up to my family's cabin next weekend, which is in star lake, near tupper. are there any areas nearbye (up to 2 hours) that have sport climbs? i know bolting is fairly new to the adk's, and there isn't too much on this site. any suggestions as to where i might find some concentration?

thanks!

There is a new guidebook, very high quality, with an equally high-quality website:

http://www.adirondackrock.com

Still not much sport up here, though. Most of us like it that way.

yea, that's pretty much what i figured. i really want to do trad, but i have the usual excuses. no money, college student... blah blah. i'm following my local friends now, trying to learn about gear placements 2nd hand. i really wanted to get better by this trip, but i didn't have the time. i was going to try and put an easy multipitch together, but alas, no one could come. so unless i find a partner up there for the weekend, its sport hunting or bouldering for me...

ah well. i'll get the book.

Probably the best developed bouldering in the park:

But don't feel limited! The is a lot of rock around. Just go bouldering. Pretty much anything on state land is fair game.

hey, so i'm bumping this up...

i'm leaving today for the cabin upstate. and now i'm worried i might not even have a belayer. is anyone aware of places that might be good to meet up with partners and climb this weekend? i'm sure most of the larger crags will have crowds, but sometimes smaller, more local cliffs tend to have friendlier folk who wouldn't mind if you ran up a route. i'm a friendly person, so i'm not worried about upsetting people, i just really want to climb. i can lead and follow up to about .12d, and would FOR SURE be down to follow trad stuff, even multiple pitch (i've never done multi, but have trained significantly in rescue techniques and whatnot).
any thoughts on where to check out? i was thinking about buck mountain, and i plan to pick up ADK rock.

thanks guys!
