hey everyone, so, as a treat to ourselves, a few friends are skipping classes and going climbing tomorrow. we live in ithaca, and we were thinking about heading to LF for the first time. question is- how bad will it be to negotiate without a guidebook? we have people going of varying skill levels, so we'll be looking for a few sub 5.10s, and then i'll be looking for some harder stuff (.11s, .12s, and i really want to try that thing called "The Juicer"). any thoughts? and, i was thinking we'll try to stay away from moss island, mainly because i'm far to broke to be buying permits. :) thanks for any help, zach

Sorry for the late reply Zach but it will be challenging unless someone there points you in the right direction. There should be a new paper guide out the summer of 2009 In the meantime you can find an online version that does a fair job at http://www.thomannengineering.com

I have rewritten the guide for the north side of the tracks (Wind Wall east to the Dihedrals). However, as many of the cliffs are either on the property or right at the edge of the property of Mr. Lonis, I am not going to post the guide without his specific permission. In the next few weeks I will post the history chapter which is interesting, involving train wrecks, moving the river channel and cutting off the north end of Moss Island.
