Maybe rockclimbing.com could provide the space and bandwidth for the info. His reviews were very educational when I started climbing and a resource that should not be lost forever. Dave

adatesman wrote: Bad news, Gearheads... Gary Storrick's most excellent Belay Device site went offline in late April, more or less permanently. Very sad to see this happen, but hopefully life will settle down enough for him that he'll be able to bring it back up sometime in the (near) future. Such a wonderful resource, and quite a shame for it to disappear. For those interested, here's an explanation of the how and why, which he posted over on Cavechat.org shortly after pulling the site. I've sent Gary an email offering free hosting to keep his site alive... let's hope for the best.

This is a loss. I really liked the quality information he had up. I don't post a lot, but I wanted to add my 2 cents that he performed quite a public service during the years he maintained the site. I hope it gets reborn eventually, or at least posted as a static archive with a disclaimer.

Thank you everyone, it is heartwarming to know that some of you appreciate what I did for the past eleven years. There were a few that didn't, as this board shows, but in general, I'm very happy with the feedback I received. Thank you all!! I have some distractions in my life right now, such as having to get my house ready for sale and to find another place to live. Maybe I'll find some time someday to put another site on line. Perhaps next year? Meanwhile, y'all have fun and climb safe! Gary Storrick

even if it is not updated the historical information is great, i would love to have that resource of the past to look at. i''m not sure why oyu choose to erase all trace of it from the web instead of leaving it up, or letting someone host the existing material...seems like closing a library of old works because no new old works will be added, there is value within the past its self.

Could one of the mods give this thread a title again so people would know what it is when it's on the front page. I would think a lot of people would like to know that it is back up and running. Maybe something like " Gary Storrick's Belay Device site is back".

moose_droppings wrote: Could one of the mods give this thread a title again .... Good idea. I don't have the ability to do that, so I started a new thread announcing the return of my site. That should accomplish something like what you asked. Thanks to everyone for their support. It is nice to be back. Gary Storrick

That will work and I thought of that too. I was afraid it would be just one more thread diluting any search in the future. Good enough, and thanks and congrats for getting the site back up.
