Being a Ex- Estes "local" I know some killer free camping spots. There is no way I'm paying 20 bucks to camp!!! OR maybe I'll just stay with friends and let the rest of you try and figure it out....
How's about a big group up at the Iron Clads???

Did I ever tell you I sat at the helm of the USS Columbus and actually DROVE the thing? We did what we called an emergency blow...
Back in the dark ages of MTV -- when they actually played music videos -- I seem to remember Cher belting out a tune with a full crew of sailors standing at attention (ahem), eyeing her like they'd been at sea WAAAY too long.

Just curious Skibs, during this "emergency blow" were you parading in a similar ensemble, or did you feel that the fishnet stockings / strategically placed vinyl straps / shiny buckles thing was a little over the top?

ah, yes, the "emergency blow". why, i recall an incident that ocurred many years ago in this funky little joint in singapore.

there i was, a young marine lieutenant, just minding my own business and nursing an elephant malt liquor, when these two lithesome, little australian numbers sauntered in and parked themselves on the two stools next to mine. they were both hotter than beach sand at high noon; as they placed their drink order, the one nearest to me smiled and, motioning in my direction, added, "and another one for me mate here, barkeep."

well, as my daddy used to say, "a wink's as good as a nod to a blind mule". i introduced myself as she boldly reached over, grabbing my

Here's what I'll bring:

1. Case of beer... Bridgeport IPA, unless I get any special requests.
2. Bottle (or two) of vino... Red or white?
3. Coffee.
4. Rope/Rack
5. Food... what should I bring?
6. Me.

See y'all this Friday. Should be at the cabin around 4 pm or so.

I am still in. I should have some good lumpy routes under my belt before this thing starts. Eldo has been really cool too.
What is the cabin situation? How much and is there still room?
Note: I have been camping for about 3 weeks now, so anywhere on the floor will be fine with me.

Ok!!!
The cost of that camping area ($30????? Per day?????) is 100% retarded. Therefore, I will not be able to camp there.

So, I am calling on all you dirt-bag free-loaders to suggest some free or very inexpensive camping nearby to the cabin. Where's it at? Maybe we can set up a secondary area for all the campers to congregate? In this theoretical camping area, which I will call "Woodstock," we can all freeze together and bad mouth the "cabiners" and be jealous of their beds and running water.

Detailed driving directions are appreciated.

Since we are in the "Low Season" 9/16-5/14. tent sites are only $15 a night for up to two people. $3 per each additional adult. The resort informs me that two tents would probably not fit on a standard tent site but would on a popup site. So if four people wanted to share a popup tent site and two tents the cost would be $58 total vs independant sites at $30 a piece. No obvious savings there. Long story short $15 a night isn't bad for electricity, water, bathrooms, and showers. Or for only $10 more you could stay in the cabin.

Oh yeah, anyone planning any alpine routes this weekend?

IF I come, I'll be dirtbagging it. This may entail sleeping in my truck as my ex got custody of our tent. I may be rolling in on Sat night. At this point, I don't really know what's up.

I'll be Camping as well. I know the run down on Free stuff in the area and there is no where close to the cabin where all of us can fit.So either far away(Like Ironclads) or pay to camp...which we can probably scam for cheap...

I thought that some National Forest land was right next to lumpy. Couldn't we just find a nice flat spot in the woods?
BTW I will be at Lumpy tomorrow and the next day climbing. The guy I am climbing with might have some ideas for free camping.

I'd really like to do a daytrip to the Lumpy Ridge gathering. Where could I meet the group? Is anyone doing a Saturday only trip from Boulder?
