Question: has anyone tried the new 5.10 Sapphires yet? I have a friend that liked them and is considering buying a pair.

Also, I was thinking about buying a pair of Rock Sox for bouldering. Anyone have these? What do you think of them?

I haven't heard anything on the Sapphires yet. They are still very new, so no one I know owns them. I do know that they are the replacement/update to the Diamonds though, and every girl I have ever talked to that owns a pair (of the Diamonds) says she loves them. As far as the Rock Sox go, I haven't heard too many good things about them. They say that they are made very small and fall apart quite easily. If you want a good high performance bouldering shoe, go with the 5.10 Dragons or the V-10 -- both look pretty good, or the LaSportiva Cobra (personal experience), or the Mistral (I know a LOT of people with these and they love them). I hope this helps.

I haven't heard that they were being discontinued, but it's possible. I have a friend that has them and swears by them.

They are still being sold on the Barrabes website...

I think the Rocksocks have been discontinued. They are no longer featured as a shoe on five 10's web site. (www.fiveten.com)
