I don't ice climb, so I can't help you. If no one else answers, try calling a store called La Cordée, at (514) 524-1106. Otherwise, go on a fellow rc.commer's forum, www.escaladequebec.com. There's info there.

I don't ice climb either. That being said I did see an extensive network of water pipes for ice creation at Montagne D'Argent. It's the closest crag to Mt. Tremblant. There is also ice climbing in St.Hippolyte/Lac Morency (<1hr from Tremblant). Check the routes DB under Laurentians http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p?CountryStateID=166. shakylegs is right about La Cordee probably being the best source of info. George.

Thanks guys, I'll try La Cordee. Lac Morency seems to have a couple very short climbs, hopefully I can find some decent multipitch within an hours drive.

George, I didn't mention Montagne d'Argent because the FQME shut it down, or might have shut it down, or are trying to shut it down, or wish it were shut down. I don't fully understand what's going on, because, let's admit, the FQME is more often involved in giving itself its own proctological exams, but it seems to object to Montagne d'Argent charging $5/day to climb there. (I guess they prefer to be the only ones who grab out money.) But, honestly, I think it's because MA is supposedly "covered" by the FQME issurance, so the FQME objects to one of its members charging even more. Of course, MA is the only crag that seems to be involved with route cleaning and development, so whatever.

How can the FQME shut down climbing at Montagne D'Argent? Did they withdraw their offer of insuring users there? Is this a brand new development? I was just there a month ago and all was well. George.

Dude, I do iceclimb and you want to check-out the following areas near Tremblant: - Mount-Nixon (very close) - Lac Sylvère (a bit further) - Shawbridge/Prévost (on the way to Tremblant) All of the above will keep you quite busy. Have a look at my the ice section of my website: www.ianbergeron.com/index3.html Have fun, ian

Ian, when did Mont Nixon open up? I thought it was another crag that had to close.

You're right, part of the crag is closed but another is open and accessible. Someone posted on my Forum that Nixon 1 is closed but Nixon 2, 3, 4, 5 are open. e_wire
