I am expanding my job search into, in order of preference 1. Canmore / Banff and 2. Calgary. I need to be close to the ice climbing for the winter season and want a good base to explore the rockies from next summer. If I find a job in Calgary then I will move to Cochrane or N.W. Calgary to keep me close to the climbing. If you have any leads on warehouse work then please post. I have 8 years experience and a poop load of certification aswell as leadership ability (got certs for that too). If your lead ends up in a job then I will buy you a six pack  That should be incentive enough for ya eh :)

NW is the only place to be! Living downtown still affords you an easy exit to the mountains after work. Good luck with your search!

most warehouses are in the north east / south west. I worked for UPS in the NE for a while, unloading/preloading delivery trucks, Christmas is their busy time, so they are probably hiring during October to get people trained up before the mass of packages comes for crhistmas. The down side is that they start you on the night shift .. I worked from 2:am - 8:00 am. I guess you could leave work for the mountains, and get back at 4pm to go back to bed. It gets dark at around 4:00 anyways. My wife worked at Smed .. they have a large warehouse in the SW, they are a prety good company to work for.

How long does it take from downtown Calgary to Canmore? I have sent in 6 resumes since Wed. and have already had a call for an interview. But they are in the S.E. and it might be a bit far from where I want to be.

one hour, no more no less, since calgary lacks any sort of resemblance of traffic its pretty easy to get out of the downtown core I don't count 5 cars in front of you at a stop sign as traffic, good luck with the ice climbing thing, that stuff rocks

I live in the SW, not all the way South, but a good portion of it. From my house to Heart Creek or several other of the close crags is 100 km. Canmore is another 7-10 minutes. Those distances aren't too bad, and then on the plus side the Bragg Creek area wich includes Prairie, Moose Mountain and White Buddha climbing areas is only 30 minutes away.
