My girlfriend and I will be flying into Toronto on Feb. 13 to visit her mother and brother in Belleville. We were planning to go climbing one day fer sure in Kingston at the Boiler Room. Might be a good opportunity to meet some new people, so is anyone up for that? Can anyone comment on the gym itself? And, finally, are any of the gyms in Toronto close to the airport? We will be flying out around supper time on the 17th.

Editted to say Belleville instead of Trenton and then again to say Trenton instead of Kingston. I've never been East of Winnipeg. Can you tell?

As far as I know there isn't anything close to the airport, but if you don't mind a short drive (depending on traffic of course), there is Joe Rocks Heads, Rock Oasis, and Toronto Climbing Academy.

I climb a the Rock Oasis. It's right downtown but also right beside the highway and if you hop on the 427 it takes you right to the airport. Send me a PM and I would be happy to give you more detailed directions as well as a belay.

I agree.
Oasis would be a safe bet because it's right by the highway. On a good day, you're at the airport in like 25.

Only problem with Oasis around supper time is it's around rush hour. That can be a hellish experience in itself (mind you I've seen worse traffic in DC and New York but non the less its still a pain in the but). At all cost avoid the 427 between 5 and 6 pm.

Thanks for all the info and offers to climb. I'm not sure about climbing in Toronto. Since the girlfriends mom and brother live so far away, we have to try maximize the family time. I don't even know if they are picking us up from the airport yet or if we're renting a car and I think it is a 3 hour drive to Belleville? Anyways, I'll know more when it gets closer. If we decide to give Toronto some time, then I will let whoever is interested know.

Thanks again.
