I'm looking for someone to share a ride to Joshua Tree, I'm leaving from Vancouver on Dec. 19 and coming back on Jan. 4. The drive is 2295 km and I could use someone to talk to and climb with once we get to JTree. I'm looking to climb mostly trad routes 5.8 to 10c and some old school sport climbs. Right now my plan is: Dec. 19 to Dec. 21 - drive to JTree. Dec 22 till Jan 1 - Climb at JTree. Jan. 2 to 4 - Drive back to BC. On my way back I would like to drive thru San Francisco and see the Golden Gate bridge. Any question ? Post up. V.

Dude, are you taking three days to drive down and then back? Just do it in a day or two....that extra climbing days you're giving up there! In order for me to get the drive done quicker then 2.5 days I will need to find someone that can drive a stick. Do you remember our first drive to RRG and how you had to keep me awake for 2 or 3 last hours of the drive ? I'm a bit older now and I don't want to drive for more then 1000 km. per day. Do you have any idea how boring my drive to BC was when I drove to here in Jan. ?

It's beautiful! - Stay with the dirtbags at the pit for at least one or two nights. - Lower your expectations, a 10c at Squamish is a hard 9/easy 10a at Josh. - Make sure you do Touch and Go (5.9), it's sick!
- Make sure to solo The Eye on Cyclops Rock (it's 5.1 and super cool). - Make sure to go to the Baker Dam area and do Mental Physics (5.7), Solid Gold (two pitch 10a/5.8), and if you and your partner are ballsy Figures on a Landscape (10d, scary sport traverse). - Also, walk down to Pig Pen Boulder and check out Pig Pen (ROOF FINGER CRACK 5' off the ground!) I don't generally boulder, but this problem is amazing. Have fun, Joshua Tree is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy (or is that Beer?).

Thank you for your post. The list is updated. I'm looking forward to finding out if climbing at Squamish for a year made me softer or not.

Dude, check the West Coast forum. You have essentially the same dates as the guy in this post - "jtree 12-18 to 1-4 from Seattle". Good luck with that!

hey there, I am in Joshua tree now just arrived a few days ago and getting used to the rock/grades..and possibly staying until after new years and will be looking for partners. I have rope/rack/car/pad and super psyched. can lead up to mid 11 if i try hard (depends on the style of route for sure in jtree) and follow harder. look for the purple ford escort wagon with alberta plates, my name is Ian. will be at hidden valley campground for a little bit. or you can message me here or email ijstrachan@shaw.ca cheers Ian

Hey I will be in JTree on the 21, around noon, I told traveguy that I will climb with him so I can't bail but, if it's OK with you than I wouldn't mind sharing your campsite with you.( Please PM me your campsite #) I would really like to stay at HVC this time. Also I have few locals coming so we could make a nice group. I'm in a green civic with BC plates. V.
