Hey guys, I try to make an annual trip to paddle the Ottawa River or the Gatineau River sometime around May or September and now Im looking to make an extended trip and include some climbing as well. Mainly looking for moderate level trad. Do most of my climbing at the Guns in NY. Anything in the Ottawa Area would be cool, but more specifically I'll be near. Beachburg, Renfrew, Arnprior, and route 416. Thanks for the help!

I'm living in Pembroke right now and the places I generally head for some good climbing would be either the Gatineau Park in Luskville or Calabogie. Luskville has a lot of variety in terms of difficulty levels... It's mostly top rope and sport their, and all the climbs are bolt anchors... no natural anchors allowed. Calabogie is still being developed so there aren't as many climbs (yet), but it's definitely a great place for doing trad; a lot of jams there and no bolted climbs. I assume you'll be camping out on the Ottawa (kayaking? park and play???), both spots are less than an hours drive from the river. Both crags are listed on this site, and have pretty detailed directions, if you need a hand with it let me know. Unfortunately I'll be heading out by May for the work season (otherwise I would offer a place to sleep and some company on the climbs/paddles), which kind of sucks since I'd love to be paddling the Ottawa during high water... If you're hear in May than enjoy Bus Eater. Rob.
