Hi there,

yes you are all right Canada is huge!
So maybe something not too far (500km) from Squamish maybe a good idea. Whitehorse is too far maybe another time!
Some places came many times in your messages: Banff, Bugaboos, Newfoudland,....
But where are all those places? And do you know some good websites about them with pictures, topos,...? Could i easily find climbers around there?
Your help would be very nice.

Patrick

My main interests are trad climb, nice landscapes, and social life.

banff is about 700 km East of squamish (10 hour drive)

If you want some trad and sport climbs in a beautiful setting , try Lake Louise.

Other places (becides squamish), would be:

Salt Spring Island, a couple hours west of Squamish, has great climbing, although I have never climbed there, the scenery is amazing.

There are other places to climb on Vancouver Island (salt spring island is just a small island off of Vancouver Island) and alot of touristy things to see and do (like the Giant Cedar Forest, and Whale Watching)

If I were you, I would probably try to stick around Squmish, and Vancouver / Salt Spring Island and save alot of driving. But if you want to head out to the Rockies, you would have a few Great Days of climbing Around Banff/Lake Loiuse.
