You can rent a canoe in the park. You need a canoe to access routes. You will likely have to do a little swimming as well. Camping, i don't know if you realised its in a provincial campground. Its fairly popular so you might have to book a sight. The place is real nice, a good red pine forest. Staying at the ACC is best, they have a sauna, what more needs to be said. If you can get a hold of a row boat I would recommend that. I have used a canoe, but a row boat was great. Good style. Nothing like rowing back to camp to have a sauna, watching the sun set, drinking vino and just relaxing. The climbing at bon echo is so much fun, winter and summer. Make sure you do routes with traverses. Ottawa route is cool. later

go to www.climbers.org and check out the times for the acc hut. they'll bus you to and from the routes you want to do, and there's all sorts of experienced climbers you can bug for beta as well. i'd only camp there, not to the provincial park. even if you park your canoe at the bottom of your route, you can't rap off every route, just a couple places, so how will you get back to the canoe....

ACC is the way to go without a canoe... With a canoe you take the "Easy Way Down" which is a wee hike down to your canoe. We employed the help of the ACC to tow our boat there. Traverse = YES ***, take note, Sweet Dreams has a sweet 12' traverse...hmmmm...wondering if I ought to share the surprise the second pitch crux holds....

Hey man, the first time I was there we just swam across at the point, shit a few good kicks and you are across, the tough part is keeping your pack above you head the whole time. I just took my shoes off and tossed them over, it really is not that far. Or bum a ride across, did that too, boats are passing by all the time.

Ahh ....Bon Echo. :) Crag of loose rock, stunning exposure, great swimming between climbs, recurring tourist boats, tricky route finding, and few descents. It's biggest downside...... it's the wrong side of TO for me :( OK here is some things to keep in mind. *The ACC hut is for members and guests, not open to the general public but membership is open to all. Membership also gives a cheaper daily rate so membership pays for itself with a couple of trips there. *Further information can be found HERE *Access is subject to annual review so it is important to familiarise your self with the rules and respect them. They are listed here. I'm active within the ACC and have been a custodian there so feel free to PM me if you need any specific beta. 8)
