Are there climbs in Squamish select that ARE NOT listed in Climbers guide to squamish? Meaning, is it a good idea to have both or will the larger book suffice. Thanks

I noticed that in a seperate thread you were looking for mainly sport and bouldering. The Whistler climbs guide book has lots of sport routes in it.

This is a little off topic but does anyone know when Marc's new bouldering guide will be out?

I have the Squamish Select, it has mostly bouldering in it. However it does cover, some sport and trad. If you're new to the area, you're probably ok with the Squamish Select. Iin either case, both books are pretty inexpensive, why not buy both?

No guidebook for squamish will have all the climbs. The area is always getting new routes. Andrew Boyd is comeing out with a aid guidebook. I can't remember when he said that would be done. Squamish select has a good selection of climbs. Unless you are interested in more adventurous routes or are leading hard runout climbs; I would have to think the Select would be a better bet. Squamish is awesome! I'm planning on spending a good amount of my time up there this summer.

Sport Climbing and Bouldering in Squamish and the Sea to Sky Corridor by Marc Bourdon and Scott Tasaka. It's a booklet that's stapled together, not hard bound. My version is the 1999 one but there may be a newer one. Last I heard, it's a bugger to get your mitts on but you could always call Murray at Valhalla Pure in Squamish and see if he can hook you up with one. Best area for sport climbing, IMHO, Check Canyon (1) or Rogues Gallery (2). Best bouldering area, once again IMHO, Kacodemon or any boulders near the Grand Wall of The Chief.
