Hi, I'm moving to NYC for grad school in August. As I have not much concept of climbing in the NE, I was wondering what the deal was. Will it be easy to find a partner in New York? I'm moving from Durango, CO. I have a feeling the climbing scene is going to be completely different...anyway, any advice would be super! Thanks. -Bill

Try here for indoor walls and bouldering in central park http://www.climbnyc.com. Yes the atmosphere here is extremely friendly and open. Plenty of beta, belayers and spotters in NYC for ya dude.
