I'm looking for some beta on any good places to boulder in VA./W.VA. I spend more time hiking and looking than I do cranking. Thanks [ This Message was edited by: mountainrat on 2002-01-31 06:32 ]

Get the Rockingham climbing guide by Lester Zook. There is some good climbs in there and some that are a waste of time. Try Rawley Springs and anything in that direction. It is about an hour from Winchester. The directions for routes and problems are vague at best sometimes and tend not to mention stand out landmarks but they can be found if you look hard enough. It is the best local climbing guide. There is also a book by Eric Horst climbing in WVA, VA and Maryland. You probably have that though if not worth the 33 bucks. The other one is 10 I think. I know old rag is in the book by horst. Don't stop the scream matt

Try McAffee's Knobb in Roanoke. It is a 3.5 mile hike to the top, but on both sides is very good bouldering. E.B.
