I'm beginning to get soft and really need to climb. I'd like to know if anyone would like to take some day trips to Vertical Endeavors in Chicago. It's only 1.5 hrs from Madison and I have room for 6 passengers in my van. Saturday and Sundays are about the only days I can go, and it varies during the month which weekends I have free. I'm a busy Mom and I don't know anyone in my circles that climbs, so I'm getting frustrated. My 20 year old daughter started climbing with me this past summer but she has moved to Russia for six months. Also would be up for climbing/bouldering at Boulders Madison too.

You should talk to some people in the hoofers club at Univ of Madison. I am pretty sure some of their members are on this site as well. I have a friend who climbs with them sometimes and I hear they are a pretty good bunch.

The closest thing I have found to real rock close to chicago is upper limits. Their 60' concrete grain silos offer some great leading inside. The convex curves of the silo make it seem just a bit off of vertical and they have some decent route setters there. (graded on the 5.x scale) It is 1.5hours + on your trip but I think it's a better gym experiance in leu (sp) of climbing outdoors... check out their site http://www.upperlimits.com/ P.K.
