going to Red River Gorge in March. I looked somewhere and it has 100s of routes. We'll only be there for about 3 days during the week. We just figured out tonight that we can make it happen. Any suggestions on ideal places to climb? Should we pony up and buy the/a guide? Are there decent online/free guides? Are there areas that are less crowded that we should go to?
Is there a pretty good mix of trad. climbing and sport there? I think I'm the only one in the group that plugs gear but I'd like to do at least a little bit.
Thanks for any tips, help, or suggestions!

1) http://redriverclimbing.com is the best online guide i've seen. but...
2) Pick up the guide before you go, it's good. You can better plan where you want to go especially if you have only a few days.
3) If you're going on a weekend you'll run in to people. Though the less popular areas tend to be the ones that are way in the sticks. Places like Muir valley are good climbing, but packed on weekends.
4) Depends on the area, some are all trad some are mix and some are mostly sport.
If you want some more specific tips on places to go let me know some grades you guys climb.

fortress wall for easy trad. roadside and or phantasia for sport. all are easy to get to. Harder to get to and harder sport The Motherlode.
And get a guide book, you'll be back.

To specify: We will be up there on a monday-wednesday (maybe thursday if we can stretch it).
I only know one of the guys going so far, so myself and the other dude lead/follow 5.9-5.11ish. I trad 5.8 and below.
edit to add: is there more than one guide book? if so which one is the best one to get?
