I'm new to the South Bend area and I'm looking to climb.
Does anyone know what the climbing community is like in South Bend? Where do people go? I can't really find anything other than a couple small indoor walls.
Any insight is helpful! Thanks

There is no climbing in South Bend open to the public. Notre Dame has a climbing club that Notre Dame students and faculty can use. They can bring you in as a guest but it really is only one bouldering wall. Climb Kalamazoo is really the only true climbing gym in the area.
I am in the planning stages of opening an indoor gym in South Bend. Hopefully, it will be up and running in a year. Until that time, Climb On!

Hey climbbike -- Any word on opening the facility in South Bend? Need help?
Other Michiana walls that I know of:
The Kroc in South Bend has a wall; I've never been, and the pictures of it online make it look small.
Goshen College has a small wall in their RecFit Center; maybe 30' wide by 20' high. Entree fee is like $8 for the whole place. Climbing is Tu/Th/Su 6-8 PM only.
Southwest Michigan College has a climbing facility in their Student Activities Center; supposed to be pretty nice (the college president is a climber; enough said!). I haven't been yet; I'm hoping to get up there in the next few weeks. Entry is $20 for a daypass ($10 for the building, $10 for climbing). or at least that's what I've been told.
The YMCA in Warsaw and Fort Wayne supposedly each have a small wall.
Earth Adventures in Fort Wayne has bouldering in their basement. Can't beat the price of $1 / visit!
But, yeah, the best indoor climbing in Michiana is still Climb Kalamazoo!
