My first memories of rock climbing are from over 20 years ago...when I was a wee one living near Smith Rock. My family would go to the area for picknics and walks and that yummy icecream nearby! (back then it wasn't a gear shop it was more a catch all mercantile). I could stand there for hours watching those climbers...I found it fascinating! I still do!
I love the out doors and most things that will get me out into them. From flat water kayaking to backpacking. Simple Mountain Biking to scrambling. I love snowshoe backpacking in the mountains in the winter. And yes, rock climbing. I love how all the muscles are working and the focus it takes...my mind is not anywhere else...a rare state...peaceful..helps me relax.
I am not "hard core" anything. The activities I enjoy don't need to be the hardest and scariest. I prefer a good work out with a peaceful overtone. And when it is all said and done there is nothing like really good food and drink! And some layed-back good company.
I am also fortunate enough to be married to the wonderful Marmot.
