Jesus, I hate dogs but you think there is a better option than that. Maybe selling them as pets?????

traddad wrote: This made me sick. I agree. Of course we euthanize about 4 million animals every year in the US. That's about 10,000 every day. There are also thousands of dogs in labs having stupid experiments performed on them that fare worse than these dogs. Basically, we should be sick every single day.

I gotta call Pinky sized troll on this one. Caring for people does not preclude, or even temper empathy for these animals. If you can't get your hackles up over this I question whether you even care about people. Really.

Its a clusterfuck of a situation... the dude who killed the dogs asked the SPCA to help twice. Because they're sled dogs, they're not family pets, and they'd probably be put down by the SPCA once they were turned over. The only thing that pisses me off is that this company needed more dogs for the winter olympics and the influx of tourist money that came with it. Once the tourists had left, they didn't need the dogs so they killed them. Greed sux.

Why didn't they give them up for adoption as pets. I doubt they tried very hard, so many people ski there. I can't believe anyone would do that . I think a boycott is in order for Whistler. I had a Samoyed he was so sweet. Sled dogs are usually good natured. Why not ship them off to Alaska for sled races??? Bastards hope they fall in a ice hole and drown.

I'm not justifying what happened, only encouraging you to know the whole story. But good luck on your Whistler boycott. You should just embargo Canada while you're at it.

Just something a little off/on topic. I didn't read the article so I have no idea what happend, but the responses made me think of something that happened here. THere where a bunch of people (Vetenarians) that killed a hell of a lot of rhino for horns. Everyone became extremely passionate about the animals welfare, and cruelty and the people must be treated like they treated the animals etc etc. The main issue though has nothing to do with rhino welfare. These people STOLE someone elses property. The stealing was the real issue, but people become so passionate about shit that they don't see the real picture. Disclaimer: Sorry if this is besides the point or something. I just switched to firefox, and I still have to find a font that doesn't fucking with my eyes so I'm not reading nothing.

You don't just cut their throats and make all their pack watch its inhumane. So many other options

Welfare is a seperate matter as there are numerous other things in play, not just the poaching. Panda's are not going extinct because people are stealing their horns.

What exactly is the SPCA supposed to do? They have limited resources that can't possibly keep up with all the idiots that over breed animals.
