Usually I spend valentines day, or the weekend nearest to it, climbing ice with a friend who is a perennial bachelor, then drinking afterwards. My girlfriend is typically not in favor of this plan, but it is tradition. This year, however, I had to stay in to work, and went skiing with the girl.

My wife prefers that I surprise her rather than doing something predictable. One year I picked her up from work with a packed suitcase and skis and whisked her away to a bed and breakfast weekend at a ski touring center (her favorite winter activity.)
Tonight I will just make home made chicken and black bean enchiladas, build a fire in the fireplace, and settle in to a good movie.
By tomorrow night she will be a climbing widow as I answer the siren's song of the local gym. Damn all this snow!

Yeah. My wife and I will probably go buy discounted chocolates tomorrow. That's my favorite part. Actually, I like buying discounted Easter candy better, since that happens at the height of climbing season and makes it easier to burn the fat off.
