So their is this 16 1/2 year old boy that climbs at my gym. He's got a lot of potential. He's done all the hard boulder problems and is a training fool. His goal is to climb out side on real rock. In walks this 42 year old lady whose been top dawg at the gym for quite some time. Although she no longer competes, she still trains hard and coaches the kids team. These two have been climbing together exclusively. I've seen them campus boarding until the lights go out in the gym. Now the boy has a pretty sweet bouldering wall in his parents back yard that he and the kids train on when the gym is closed. We can pretty much go train over their whenever we want. The other day one of his buddies came over for a quick session and to his surprise The 42 year old lady was busting 4X4 up and downs on his woody. So my question is WTF? or niiiice.

Without info to the contrary, I would go with her being a friend/coach taking advantage of a new facility and motivated training partner.

I mean the fact that she would train with him all the time at home. Where I am from we had docks in our back yards and he had a net at his house. instead of calling the team to scrimmage, the coach would go over to practice with him. Eventually people found out they were sleeping together.

Would you have a different perception if it were a 42 year old man who was mentoring him? If so, the 'sleezeball' accusation may be misplaced.

He didn't say they were sleeping in the same tent, going on exclusive trips together, or that he was sitting on her lap. That would be the difference.

The major issue here is obviously whether or not she is attractive. If Yes, then even if she is acting in a sleezeball manner then she could still be a concerned mentor... If No..Sleezeball.

Evidently, the boy lost interest and fell asleep before she was done training.

I would have killed for a WTF when I was 16.5. "42-year-old cougar woman, we the jury find you guilty... of giving that boy unflappable confidence for the rest of his life." Seriously, though, I find that climbing makes for strange bedfellows, err... partners, umm... climbing buddies! In my experience, climbing often transcends demographics. I'll have to go with no problem here, unless something proves otherwise.
