Anyone know? It landed beside me on the table last night when I was studying (in Chile). It came down less than a foot on its web right near my arm. I was lucky to get it in a jar. It is still alive. I'm afraid it might be the Chilean Recluse (Rincon) spider, which is the same family as the Brown Recluse but MUCH more poisonous. Sorry that the pics are bad, but, he won't sit still. I think the final two pics are the best.

yeah, not the second one for sure ( ). I wondered if it was the first (tiger) but it is not. It kind of looks like a brown recluse, but they don't have those here (only the Rincon), and it doesn't look like a rincon, either. I'm really curious to know if I should release it or kill it.

yeah, sorry. the pic is tough to take when the spider is in a jar, in somewhat low light, and is moving.

I'm actually kind of hoping someone on here knows spiders and can tell me what it is.

I used to live in hawaii (no australia for sure), and I didn't like all the poisonous things there. I'm just curious if it'd be safer to kill.

Poisonous or not, it's just going about it's business; release it. If you're worried, do it far away from you in ISM.* *(Imperial Spider Miles)

Something I didn't know about recluse
In reply to: it is far more important, for purposes of identification, to examine the eyes. Contrary to most spiders, which have 8 eyes, recluse spiders have 6 eyes arranged in pairs (dyads) with one median pair and 2 lateral pairs. Check the eyes.

The violin, or the chilean recluse, or the rincon, is not it. Our house cleaner said that she's seen many over the years (as a cleaner, not unusual), but she doesn't know what it is. I'm going to bring it near the corner market where the lady was mean to me and release it there.
