To me rockclimbing.com is a place to share beta, meet new people, and get info on equipment, not to totally bash on other climbers! I won't name any names, but some of you sicken me. Your constant bickering is annoying, juvenile and just plain stupid. Is it that hard to hold you mouth shut or look away? Why do we have to tear each other down and make fun of others? For once I would love to be able to come to the forums and not see a post with "f*ck you" or "You little F*cker" written in it. I encourage ALL rc.com members to be friendly and nice to others. ahhhh that felt so good to say

Sorry chk, I think the problem is that all us climber guys spend too much time with pumped forearms and it drains the blood away from our head. Our bodies need something to take it's place so it produces extra testosterone and that makes us a little bit testy. Sometimes we settle our differences though

I know most of you are not being serious, but not everyone else does. There are some younger members out there and this is TOTALLY not setting a good example. I mean I thought we all learned this lesson in kindergarden. Right?

I mean, come on guys, I know that we're climbers and everything, but I don't think that it's simply the pumping of the testosterone (or whatever you guys were talking about). I mean, climbing can enduce mental stresses on someone, though I think our working places can produce the most stress around us, and is probably the cause of most of this nonsense. And I must admit, I have done so in the past myself, and have deeply regretted it, but now am forgiven and have forgotten all of it. Let's just all try to chill here, it's not too hard. When your feeling pissed, take it out on your campus board or something, go to the gym, and do some wickedly hard routes to get rid of all of that excess 'bad energy' and replace it with 'good karma'. It's for the good of all!

I'll have to second what climberchk said. There does seem to be a lot of bickering in the forums. And it is usually over very trivial matters. Seems to me that we would be makeing it a much better site to keep it all in or if you really must say something pm the person. Michael

I do agree with you all. However, I checked the profiles of a few of the people who've been stirring stuff up. It seems that a few are from b.com and most are also in high school. I usually try to stay out of little petty arguments. However, when I saw that it was said that the older people should be setting an example, I laughed. I think that usually we do (rrradam apologizing to everyone, etc...). Usually when someone's wrong on this site, we admit it. [ This Message was edited by: case22 on 2001-10-21 16:16 ]

A little bit of bickering and swearing among passionate people like us (if you're not passionate, you can't be a climber!) doesn't hurt too much. A few smart-ass comments aren't the worst, but it doesn't do any of us any good if we make the comments too personal, or if they become attacks. But yes, it's important not to let things get out of hand. I've seen some really nasty stuff on the gunks board, and it's great to see there isn't that much stuff here. Let's all try to stay on the good side of the line, and if someone should stray across a little too often, a gentle rebuke might be a good start. If we see that one person is consistently being nasty, then there are ways that we as a whole can make our displeasure known. And of course, we can always just ignore the really stupid stuff, cuz it doesn't matter anyway. Nice of you, climberchk, to point this out. It's true - sometimes a man's blood goes elsewhere than to his brain! Cheers, Pete

case22, I probably should have phrased that better ... all I really wanted out of this post was for people to realize that's its unacceptable to treat others in such a poor manner. Regardless of our age we ALL need to show each other respect. I am only 15 and yet I will show a 7 year old child the same respect as I show t a 45 year old person. And when I ment younger children I didn't mean the few who were 'involved' with the bickering. Thanks for pointing that out case22.
